Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Sonata (“we”, “us”) covering your use of the Sonata service (the “Service”). By creating an account you agree to them. Questions: support@sonatai.co.
What Sonata does
Sonata is a business assistant. With your permission it reads connected accounts — email, calendar, accounting and similar — and uses AI to summarise, prioritise and draft on your behalf. It produces suggestions and drafts: it does not send email, publish, or take an external action without an explicit action from you.
Because output is generated by AI models, it can be wrong. You are responsible for checking anything you act on or send. Sonata is not a substitute for professional financial, legal or tax advice.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over and able to enter a contract.
- You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens under your account, including anything done by people you invite into your workspace.
- The details you give us must be accurate, and you must keep them up to date.
Connected accounts
You choose which accounts to connect and can disconnect any of them at any time from within Sonata. We request the narrowest permissions that let a feature work. Disconnecting stops further reading; what we have already stored is covered by our Privacy Policy, which also explains deletion and export.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights, using the Service;
- connect an account you are not authorised to access, or use Sonata to read someone else’s data without their knowledge;
- send bulk unsolicited messages, or use drafts produced by Sonata to do so;
- attempt to breach or test our security, reverse-engineer the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
- resell or share access outside the workspace you have paid for.
Plans, billing and payment
- Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. Prices are shown on our pricing page and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
- Payments are handled by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record. Their buyer terms apply to the sale alongside these terms.
- Plans include a monthly allowance of AI capacity. If you exceed it you can buy a one-off top-up; we do not charge overage without you choosing to.
- Cancellation and refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- If a payment fails we may suspend access until it is resolved. We will tell you before we do.
Your content
You keep ownership of your data and anything Sonata produces for you. You grant us the permission we need to operate the Service — to process, store and transmit your content in order to provide it to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models.
Our software
We own the Service, its software and its branding. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it while your subscription is active, and nothing more.
Availability
We work to keep Sonata available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or withdraw features; where a change is material and negative, we will give reasonable notice. The Service depends on third parties (Google, Microsoft, Xero, AI providers) and their outages will affect it.
Sonata is currently in a private beta. Features may change more often than they would in a settled product, and you should not rely on it as your only record of anything important.
Ending this agreement
- You can stop using Sonata and close your account at any time.
- We may suspend or end your access if you materially break these terms, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
- After termination you can export your data for a limited period, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business or lost data; and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
